Power Rogers attorney Larry R. Rogers, Jr. is representing Bonita Cowan, the mother of Antonio Cowan who was killed in a car crash that involved a car being pursued at high speed by the police.
Antonio was a passenger in the car on October 1 near the intersection of South Loomis Boulevard and 69th Street when Chicago police officers were taking part in the high-speed chase. The officers were pursuing a 2013 Ford Fusion down 69th Street, but according to the complaint, never activated the siren or lights on the police car.
The car being pursued crashed into the car Antonio was in, killing him. According to the complaint, the police chose to pursue a speeding vehicle despite the fact that doing so put the lives and safety of the general public at risk, and that failing to use the siren and lights put the general public at even greater risk. Because of this, Bonita and the rest of the family lost a loved one, including his support, affection, attention, and care, as well as incurring medical, funeral, and burial costs. The lawsuit is seeking damages and requested a trial by jury.
