Cerebral palsy refers to a group of conditions that affect movement and motor control. According to the Cerebral Palsy Foundation:
- CP is the most common physical disability in childhood.
- Children with CP may also have other impairments; 1 in 3 are unable to walk, 1 in 5 cannot talk, and 1 in 10 have severe vision impairment.
- The rate of depression is three to four times higher in people with disabilities such as CP.
- In most cases, brain damage that causes CP occurs during pregnancy, labor, and delivery.
Because promoting activity and inclusion is important for children with CP, especially during early development, increased awareness can help schools, businesses, and other organizations create more diverse and welcoming spaces for people with the condition.

Proven Advocacy for Birth Injury Victims
Power Rogers has been trusted by families in a range of birth injury claims, including those involving children with cerebral palsy.
Many of these cases involve providers who failed in some capacity to meet the standard of care when treating mothers, monitoring pregnancy, and facilitating labor and delivery. This can include making errors when inducing labor, failing to diagnose or treat complications, and failing to perform timely C-sections, among other acts of negligence.
Examples of cerebral palsy cases we have handled:
- $35 Million for a child who suffered brain damage resulting in spastic quadriplegia, cerebral palsy, and seizures due to a delayed delivery. This is a state record for a child injured at birth.
- $35 Million for a minor plaintiff suffered permanent brain damage, spastic quadriplegia, and cerebral palsy, as the result of a tracheostomy tube becoming occluded causing an anoxic event. One of the largest settlements in Illinois history.
- $18 Million Failure to diagnose preeclampsia causing the mother to have an eclamptic seizure. The child suffered from hypoxia and ischemia and there was a 37-minute delay in resuscitation
- $13 Million for a child born with cerebral palsy caused by an inadequate blood and oxygen to the brain. It was alleged the defendant providers failed to recognize signs of fetal distress after administering labor-inducing medication.
- $12.5 Million for a child who suffered choreoathetoid cerebral palsy when providers failed to adequately monitor during labor and delivery and timely diagnose bradycardia in the baby.
