The attorneys at Power Rogers have had their share of experience with catastrophic accident cases that resulted in burn injuries to our clients, including:

  • $100 Million Settlement
We won a large settlement in a wrongful death trucking accident case in which a mother and father narrowly escaped with severe burns, while their six children died in the fire that resulted from the collision.
  • $39.9 Million Settlement
In another wrongful death trucking accident case, a brother and sister sustained second and third-degree burns, requiring amputation of the girl’s leg and some of her toes. Their parents perished in the fire that resulted from the collision.

Causes Of Burn Injuries

Perhaps the most common type of burn injury is the one that results from exposure to open flame, but there are many more causes of burn injuries, such as:

  • Thermal burns – Burns are caused by exposure to flame or another heat source
  • Electrical burns – Burns are caused by coming into contact with an electrical current
  • Chemical burns – Burns are caused by coming into contact with a chemical
  • Radiation burns – Burns are caused by exposure to radiation

Degrees Of Burns

There are three degrees of burns – first being the least severe and third being the most severe.

  • First-degree burns have the appearance of red skin without blistering.
  • Second-degree burns are characterized by redness and blistering.
  • Third-degree burns are characterized by white skin with a leathery appearance.

The most severe burns can result in amputation of the affected limb.

Compensation For Lifelong Disability And Disfigurement

When we represent burn victims, we take into account the lifelong nature of these injuries. In some cases, severe burns can necessitate skin grafts or even amputation. Individuals who have lost the use of certain limbs or feeling in affected areas may not be able to perform the same job duties as they had before their accident, in addition to other impairments.
